UPSC full form is 'Union Public Service Commission'. It is most difficult exam of india. The Public service commision was set up in india on 1926, and sir Ross barker was the member of the home civil services. As we all know, UPSC conduct all union level exam such as IAS exam.
In this phase we will discuss about the syllabus of Civil Service Exam, and the paper pattern of the exam. Here we will let you know the prelims exam syllabus of UPSC as well as we will also discuss about the secondary exam (main exam). So lets begin-
The competitive examination comprises two successive stages:
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination: It is objective type examination for the selection of candidates for Main Examination.
(ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination: (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.
UPSC Prelims & mains exam syllabus given below -
UPSC Prelims exam consists of 2 mandatory papers for the 200 marks each to attemted in the duration of 2 hours. paper 1 contains questions from General studies (GS) while 2nd paper from the Aptitude test.
⦁ Current events of national and international importance.
⦁ History of India and Indian National Movement.
⦁ Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
⦁ Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
⦁ Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
⦁ General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization General Science
⦁ Comprehension.
⦁ Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
⦁ Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
⦁ Decision-making and problem solving.
⦁ General mental ability.
⦁ Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level).
The Mains Exam consists of subjective type questions with a total marks of 1750. Each paper is of 3 hours duration. Here we have given you all information regarding UPSC exam given below-
⦁ The Mains examination constitutes the 2nd phase of the Civil Services Examination. Only after successfully qualifying in the prelims exam would the candidates are allowed to write the IAS Mains.
⦁ The Mains exam tests the candidate’s academic talent in depth and his/her ability to present his/her understanding according to the requirements of the question in a time bound manner.
⦁ The UPSC Mains exam consists of 9 papers.
⦁ The papers on Essay, General Studies and Optional Subject of only such candidates who attain 25% marks in both the language papers as a minimum qualifying standard in these qualifying papers, will be taken cognizance of, for evaluation.
In case a candidate does not qualify in these language papers, then the marks obtained by such candidates will not be considered or counted.

⦁ Candidates who qualify the UPSC Mains Exam will be called for the ‘Personality Test/Interview’. These candidates will be interviewed by a Board appointed by the UPSC.
⦁ The objective of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in the civil services by a board of competent and unbiased observers.
⦁ The interview is more of purposive conversation intended to explore the mental qualities and analytical ability of the candidate.
⦁ The Interview test will be of 275 marks and the total marks for written examination is 1750. This sums up to a Grand Total of 2025 Marks based on which the final merit list will be prepared.
Age Limit For UPSC Exam
⦁ The number of attempts for IAS exam:
i. General Category: 6 attempts till 32 years of age, OBC: 9 attempts till 35 years of age, unlimited attempts till 37 years of age.
⦁ 21 year age on 1st August of respective year.
i. Upper age limit for General category: 32 years, upper age limit for OBC: 35 years and upper age limit for SC/ST: 37 Years.
⦁ Graduation from any university in any stream {only pass, no specific % is mentioned}.
⦁ Usually pre exam took place on first Sunday of June, mains in between September and October.

राज्य सेवा (प्रारंभिक परीक्षा)
संघ लोक सेवा आयोग द्वारा आयोजित सिविल सेवा प्रारंभिक परीक्षा का पाठ्यक्रम -
नई परीक्षा प्रणाली के अनुसार, वर्तमान में प्रारंभिक परीक्षा में दो प्रश्नपत्र शामिल हैं। पहला प्रश्नपत्र ‘सामान्य अध्ययन’ का है जबकि दूसरे को ‘सिविल सेवा अभिवृत्ति परीक्षा’ या ‘सीसैट’ कहा जाता है और यह qualifying पेपर के रूप में है।
चूँकि अब सीसैट पेपर को सिर्फ Qualifying कर दिया गया है इसलिये प्रारंभिक परीक्षा पास करने के लिये किसी भी उम्मीदवार को सीसैट पेपर में सिर्फ 33 प्रतिशत अंक (लगभग 27 प्रश्न या 66 अंक) प्राप्त करने आवश्यक हैं। अगर वह इससे कम अंक प्राप्त करता है तो उसे फेल माना जाता है। अब कट-ऑफ का निर्धारण सिर्फ प्रथम प्रश्नपत्र यानी सामान्य अध्ययन के आधार पर किया जाता है।

प्रारंभिक परीक्षा के प्रश्नपत्र-2 का संबंध ‘सीसैट’ से है। इसका पाठ्यक्रम निम्नलिखित है-
नोट - प्रारंभिक परीक्षा में वस्तुनिष्ठ प्रकृति (व्इरमबजपअम जलचम) के प्रश्न पूछे जाते हैं, जिसके अंतर्गत प्रत्येक प्रश्न के लिये दिये गए चार संभावित विकल्पों में से एक सही विकल्प का चयन करना होता है।
